DAYTON – University of Dayton men's basketball coach Anthony Grant has announced that Moulaye Sissoko has signed a letter of intent to become a student-athlete at Dayton.  Sissoko is a 6-foot-10, 223-pound forward from Bamako, Mali who is currently paying at Lincoln Academy in Suwannee, Ga.

"We're excited to announce the addition of Moulaye  to our Dayton Basketball Family," Grant said. "He will be the first member of his family to attend University in the United States. He is a high-character young man who will bring size and physicality to our front court. We welcome him to the University of Dayton and our community."

Early in the season for Lincoln Academy, Sissoko has averaged 15.4 points and 10.6 rebounds in seven games played.  He also represented the Republic of Mali at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup held in Cairo, Egypt.  Sissoko averaged 4.7 points and 5.8 rebounds.

He chose Dayton over scholarship offers from 11 other schools.  Among those schools were Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Penn State and South Carolina.

Sissoko will be the fourth African-born men's basketball player to play for the Flyers, joining Maurice Beyina (Central African Republic), Stephen Bamigbola (Nigeria) and Makor Shayok (Sudan).

Dayton, 2-0 on the young season, hosts Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday night.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
