DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team and head coach Shauna Green have announced the addition of Destiny Bohanon and Mariah Perez for the upcoming season.

"I really could not be happier with the signing of our two players in the 2019 class," said Coach Green. "We recruited both of these players for a long time and know exactly what they are about. They fit Dayton basketball both on the floor and off the floor. They address needs from the guard position and the post position and will no doubt make us a better team overall. Most importantly they believe in our vision. I cannot wait to have Mariah and Destiny in Flyer uniforms next year."

Destiny Bohanon – Guard – 5-9 – Wayne High School – Dayton, Ohio
Bohanon is ranked No. 158 in the ASGR rankings after earning Co-Most Valuable Player honors at Wayne High School and leading her team to conference championships twice. The local guard was named GWOC All-Conference First Team, AP Southwest All-District Third Team, and Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week. Bohanon is averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game going into her senior season.

"Destiny will add so much to our program," Green continued. "She is a guard who can play multiple positions. She has experience running a team as a point guard, she can score in a variety of ways, she can defend multiple positions and most importantly she makes the people around her better. Keeping her home was huge for Dayton basketball and I could not be more excited to have her in our family. Her character and work ethic fit our culture perfectly."

Mariah Perez – Forward – 6-3 – Newark Tech High School – Newark, N.J.
Perez is ranked No. 127 in the ASGR rankings and 85^th on ProspectNation.com. She was twice named All-Conference in the All-America Division the past two seasons and was Third Team All-Conference as a freshman. The New Jersey native currently has 830 career rebounds which leads Newark Tech High School, to go with 852 points. Perez is a four-year letterwinner and has led her team to two consecutive county championships and two sectional titles.

"I am beyond excited to have Mariah join our Flyer family," Green added. "She is post player who can score in multiple ways, who isn't afraid to bang and rebounds the ball at a high level. Her size and ability to score down low will be a huge addition to our inside game. What is important to Mariah is important to Dayton basketball and we can't wait to have her in a Flyer uniform."

Bohanon and Perez join transfer Erin Whalen to make up the 2019 class that ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and 53^rd overall in the nation.

The Flyers return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. at UD Arena as they host Northeastern.
