COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of Dayton women's basketball team led for the majority of the game, but suffered a 65-55 loss at No. 18/19 South Carolina Wednesday.

It was the toughest environment for Dayton (2-4) this season, playing in front of 10,423 Gamecock (4-3) fans.

- Lauren Cannatelli hit a three at the 7:20 mark to put the Flyers up four.
- By the media timeout, Dayton led 40-38 despite having zero field goals for a 2:24 stretch.
- South Carolina answered with a three though and led 42-40 with four minutes left. Shakeela Fowler responded with a three of her own to put UD back up.
- Dayton suffered during a two-plus minute scoring drought heading into the final two minutes of the third, allowing South Carolina to lead 46-43.
- A pair of late Cannatelli threes pulled Dayton back, a buzzer beating layup gave USC a two-point lead.
4th Quarter: Dayton 55, South Carolina 65
- Dayton didn't get its first point of the fourth quarter until the 7:24 mark.
- They hung with the Gamecocks though, staying within four points for the next few minutes.
- The Flyers went into the media break with a 2:31 scoring drought and down 57-53.
