#UDMTEN Announces Signing Of Oliver Dunne

Oliver Dunne Will Come To UD From Sweden

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis coach Ryan Meyer has announced the signing of Oliver Dunne, who will join the team for the 2019-2020 season.

Dunne, who is ranked No. 19 nationally in Sweden and has a career-high ITF ranking of No. 1079, spoke about what made the University of Dayton stand out to him as the perfect destination to continue his tennis and academic careers:

"I chose Dayton because of the values, as well as team goals, that the tennis program and Coach Meyer have. The team chemistry and closeness everyone on the team shared was also very important to me. I'm really looking forward to developing my game, while traveling and experiencing the team aspect of tennis."

Dunne becomes the second player from Sweden to commit to the Flyers in recent seasons, as fellow Sweden native Theo Jener provided an immediate impact as a freshman on last season's team that compiled an 18-7 record and was named the University of Dayton athletic department's "Rookie of the Year" at the 2018 R.U.D.Y.S Awards as the top freshman across all sports. Jener returned to Sweden after his freshman season, but was back on campus earlier this month and sat down for a Q&A with sophomore Will Harper that you can read HERE.

Dayton will open up its spring season in a little over a month, when the Flyers will travel up I-75 to take on Toledo on Jan. 21 at noon (ET). The Flyers will look to build upon last season's 18-win campaign in 2018, which was the second-most all-time in Dayton history for wins in a single season.
