Box Score PITTSBURGH – The Dayton men's tennis team defeated George Mason by a score of 6-1 on Saturday to extend its win streak to four matches. The Flyers now have an overall record of 7-2 and are 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the loss drops George Mason to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Seniors
Zach Berry and
Carsten Fisher dropped their match at the No. 1 spot in doubles play, but Dayton took advantage of its depth and picked up wins in the back half of the doubles lineup from
Jordan Benjamin/Theo Jener on court two and
Will Harper/
Simon Jayaram on court three by scores of 6-3 and 6-1, respectively.
The Flyers wasted no time clinching the match in singles play with
Jordan Benjamin,
Carsten Fisher and
Zach Berry each winning their matches in straight sets to push Dayton's lead to 4-0 as a team and clinch the win. Benjamin's win keeps him undefeated during the spring season in singles play. Theo Jener and
Simon Jayaram also went on to win their singles matches on courts four and five to account for Dayton's two other points in the match.
