Box Score PITTSBURGH – The Dayton women's tennis team swept George Mason by a 7-0 margin on Saturday to pick up its first conference win of the season. The Flyers record improves to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
Kelly Pleiman and
Anna Delaney opened the match strong for Dayton with a 6-1 win on court three in doubles. The pairs
Marlys Bridgham and
Mattea Kilstofte, along with Jade and
Jackie Kawamoto, both picked up 6-3 wins on courts one and two, respectively, to secure the doubles point for Dayton.
Singles play this weekend has been highlighted by
Jade Kawamoto and
Kelly Pleiman, both of whom are 2-0 this weekend individually. Senior
Marlys Bridgham, who prepped at nearby Pine-Richland High School, also won her match in straight sets by a 7-5, 6-4 line at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Mattea Kilstofte dropped her first set, 6-0, but bounced back to win her match in three sets. Other Flyers in the lineup that earned a victory in singles included
Jackie Kawamoto and
Natalie Allen.
