Box Score Monroeville, Pa. – Dayton women's tennis continued the strong momentum its built up over the past two weekends on Sunday with a 4-1 win over Saint Francis on the road. The Flyers have now won four of their last five matches and have an overall record of 4-4 this season, while the loss drops the Red Flash to 0-6 on the year.
Jackie and
Jade Kawamoto earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over Raksha Bode and Stephanie Miller to clinch the opening point of the match for Dayton. The Flyers also took court three of doubles play by forfeit.
In singles play, senior
Marlys Bridgham earned her second consecutive win in straight sets of the weekend with a 7-6, 6-4 triumph over Lucia Seigford at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Fellow senior
Jade Kawamoto also continued her impressive play with her third win of the weekend by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 over Bode at No. 3 Singles. The Flyers also earned a point on court six due to forfeit.
Dayton will look to sustain its run of recent success next weekend with three home matches. The Flyers will host a pair of Tennessee schools to open the weekend, including Austin Peay on Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. and Belmont at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17, before closing out the weekend with a match against IUPUI on Feb. 18 at 12 p.m.
