SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Dayton softball team split its doubleheader with San Diego on the second day of UCSB's Gaucho Classic. San Diego won the first game, 3-2, and Dayton came from behind in the nightcap, winning 3-2.
Dayton improves to 4-5 overall while San Diego is now 7-7 on the season.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Game One: San Diego 3, Dayton 2
A RBI-single from junior
Madi Maloof got the Flyers on the board first in the bottom of the second inning but the Toreros answered by plating a single run in the top of the third. Dayton sent across another run in the third as freshman
Abby Ehrenborg used a sacrifice fly to bring in freshman
Briley Sidor (pinch running for senior
Kailee Budicin). UD carried the 2-1 lead through the fourth but USD scored two in the fifth and the Toreros were able to hold on for the 3-2 win.

Game Two: Dayton 3, San Diego 2
The second game of the day was highlighted by a defensive battle through the first three innings as neither team was able to score. San Diego singled in a run in the fourth and a sacrifice fly scored the Toreros second run in the fifth. Trailing 2-0, Dayton responded by putting up three unanswered runs in the top of the sixth. Kyle Davidson scored what proved to be the winning run on a USD error.
