#UDWTEN Looks To Continue Winning Streak In Pittsburgh

The Flyers Have Three Matches This Weekend, Including Two Against Conference Foes

DAYTON – The Dayton women's tennis team will have three matches this weekend in the Pittsburgh area, including two against conference opponents. The Flyers will first take on Duquesne on Friday at 1 p.m. and will face off against George Mason in a neutral site match in Pittsburgh on Saturday at 4 p.m. Action for the weekend will conclude on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Saint Francis.

Dayton enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak after defeating Cleveland State and Wright State last weekend at the Five Seasons Sports Club. The Flyers have a 2-3 overall record this season.

Quick Hits on Duquesne
  • Duquesne is undefeated this season and carries a 4-0 record into Friday's match.
  • Cleveland State is the lone mutual foe between Dayton and Duquesne in 2018. The Flyers topped Cleveland State last weekend by a 5-2 margin, while the Dukes defeated the Vikings 6-1 on Jan. 26.
  • Dayton head coach Erica Echko cited last year's win over Duquesne as perhaps the team's most important of the season and a key reason why the Flyers were able to get the No. 6 seed in the 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament.

Quick Hits on George Mason
  • As of Thursday afternoon, George Mason has only played one match this season, which was a 5-2 win over Mount St. Mary's. The Patriots are also scheduled to play Mary Washington on Thursday evening.
  • The Patriots have defeated Mount St. Mary's and Mary Washington, both by 4-3 margins, to open the 2018 season.
  • The last time Dayton and George Mason matched up against one another was on Feb. 13, 2016, which was also played at Duquesne's facility in Pittsburgh. The Flyers won that match, 4-0.

Quick Hits on Saint Francis
  • Saint Francis is 0-4 to open the 2018 season.
  • The Storm share a common opponent with the Flyers in Wright State. Saint Francis hosted Wright State on Jan. 28 and fell 6-1, while Dayton defeated the Raiders, 4-3, which was clinched by Natalie Allen in No. 6 singles.
  • The Storm will be seeking their first win on Saturday against Carnegie Mellon before matching up with Dayton on Sunday afternoon.
