Box Score DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team lost on Sunday to Xavier by a score of 7-0 at the Five Seasons Sports Club. The Flyers now have an overall record of 12-7 this season.
Dayton had several opportunities to get on the scoreboard, especially in doubles play. Jackie and
Jade Kawamoto won at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-4, and
Kelly Pleiman and
Anna Delaney were nearly able to win their match at No. 3 doubles to win the opening point for the Flyers, but ultimately fell by a 6-4 margin.
There were several close calls for the Flyers in singles matches as well.
Jackie Kawamoto took her match at the No. 4 spot in the lineup to a third set, but ultimately lost in a superbreaker.
Marlys Bridgham played at the No. 1 spot once again for Dayton and the deciding second set went into a tiebreak, but Bridgham dropped the tiebreak by a score of 9-7 to drop the match.
Dayton will have the next two weekends off of competition before returning to the court to match up with Eastern Michigan on April 6.
