#UDSB Outlasts Wright State, 2-1, In Eight Innings

Blarr Singles in Winning Run with Two Outs in the Bottom of the Eighth

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team outlasted cross-town foe Wright State, 2-1, in eight innings Wednesday at UD Softball Stadium. Sophomore Julia Blarr knocked in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Dayton improves to 17-19 on the season while Wright State moved to 12-21.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Both teams battled through a pitchers' duel through the first six innings of the game as the score remained tied at 0-0. Wright State's Miles went yard over the left field fence in the top of the seventh to get Raiders on the board. In the bottom of the final inning of regulation, Dayton had to score or go home and freshman Briley Sidor stole second to get into scoring position. Freshman Morgan Mateja stepped in to pinch hit and laid down a sacrifice bunt that turned into a fielding error on the second baseman, allowing Sidor to score the tying run. With the score tied at 1-1, the Flyers and Raiders went to an extra inning. Wright State went down 1-2-3 and Dayton's senior Kailee Budicin reached first on a Raider error. Freshman Abby Ehrenborg singled to put runners on first and second and Blarr was up next facing two outs. Blarr's base hit brought Budicin home to score the winning run.
