PHILADELPHIA - The University of Dayton softball team shut out Saint Joseph's twice Saturday, 3-0 and 1-0, in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader. Junior
Lisa Tassi led the Flyers' offense with a 4-for-6 day at the plate.
Dayton improves to an even 19-19 on the season and 9-4 in league action while Saint Joseph's moves to 14-21 overall and 2-9 in A-10 play.

Kyle Davidson drew a walk to lead off the game and made it home on junior
Kayla Haberstich's double to score the game's first run. Haberstich was then brought home with a RBI-single from Tassi to set the score at 2-0 in favor of Dayton. The score remained unchanged through the top of the seventh when junior
Kelly Fitzgerald scurried home on a Hawk wild pitch as the Flyers claimed the 3-0 win. Senior
Manda Cash worked the complete-game shutout, recording eight strikeouts.

Game Two: Dayton 1, Saint Joseph's 0
The first six batters for both teams were retired and Dayton's starting pitcher carried a no-hitter through the first four frames. The first two Flyer batters of the fourth were retired but Tassi batted a two-out single to get on base. Tassi stole second, got to third on a wild pitch and scored on a double-steal attempt with sophomore
Julia Blarr, the only run scored in the game. SJU was able to get a runner in scoring position in the fifth and sixth but were not able to convert as UD completed the doubleheader shutout.
