PHILADELPHIA - The University of Dayton softball team extended its winning streak to seven games with its third-consecutive shutout of Saint Joseph's, 6-0, Sunday in the Atlantic 10 series finale. Junior
Kyle Davidson went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Flyers.
Dayton improves to 20-19 on the season and 10-4 in A-10 action while Saint Joseph's moves to 14-22 overall and 2-10 in league play.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
For the second time in as many innings, Davidson batted a double in the second inning to plate two runs and was moved to third on a single by junior
Kayla Haberstich. Senior
Kailee Budicin subsequently reached on on a fielding error by the SJU short stop and Davidson was able to make it home as UD jumped out to the 3-0 lead. In the third, sophomore
Ellie Ziegler knocked out her third home run of the season with a solo shot off the right field foul poll to put Dayton in front four, 4-0. The score remained the same through the top of the seventh when the Flyers took advantage of a three-error inning to score two more runs, setting the score at 6-0 in favor of Dayton, which would prove to be the final margin.
