#UDWTEN Falls To Northern Kentucky On Senior Day, 4-2

It Was The Final Regular Season Match For Marlys Bridgham, Jackie Kawamoto and Jade Kawamoto

Box Score DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team hosted Northern Kentucky for its Senior Day on Wednesday and dropped the match by a score of 4-2. Seniors Marlys Bridgham, Jackie Kawamoto and Jade Kawamoto each played their final regular season match, as the trio heads into the Atlantic 10 Championships with 47 team victories as a group, while also helping lead the Flyers to two winning seasons in their four-year careers.

Despite a fast start to doubles play, with a 6-3 win on court two from Jackie and Jade Kawamoto and an early 5-1 set lead from Marlys Bridgham and Mattea Kilstofte on court one, Dayton dropped the opening point of the match to Northern Kentucky. Following the Flyers' victory on court two, Kelly Pleiman and Anna Delaney pushed their match all the way to a tiebreak on court three, but were shutout in the tiebreaker to even up the score at 1-1. Despite a 5-1 lead earlier in the set from Bridgham and Kilstofte, Northern Kentucky's Maria Koo and Margita Sunjic rallied all the way back to win the final six games of the set and clinch the doubles point.

Dayton briefly took a 2-1 lead after Jackie Kawamoto and Jade Kawamoto won their singles matches in straight sets on courts three and four, respectively. Jackie won her match by a score of 6-1, 6-2, while Jade won by a 6-1, 6-0 margin. Northern Kentucky fought back with wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles to retake the lead and the Norse's Maria Koo would go on to clinch the match on court two with a three-set win over Mattea Kilstofte. Kilstofte dropped the first set, 6-3, but battled back with an impressive 6-2 win in the second set to force the deciding set. Koo jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but wasn't able to clinch without a strong fight from Kilstofte, who brought the score back to 5-4 before finally conceding the game-winning set on a deuce point.

Up next for Dayton is the Atlantic 10 Championships in Orlando, Fla., which will take place from April 25-29.
