DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team claimed a 2-1 Atlantic 10 series win over George Washington with its 4-3 (8) victory Sunday at UD Softball Stadium. Sophomore

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Neither team was able to make it across the plate through the first three innings but George Washington's Sierra Lange led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run and a RBI-double knocked in a second run to put GW up 2-0. Junior
Kyle Davidson led off the sixth with a single up the middle and then stole second before junior
Kayla Haberstich sacrificed her to third. In what should have been the third out of the inning, junior
Lisa Tassi reached on a fielding error by the Colonial second baseman, allowing Davidson to make it home. Leading by one, 2-1, GW tacked on a run in the top of the seventh as Lange singled in Jenna Cone to set the score at 3-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh. UD was able to stay alive by scoring two in the bottom of the frame, the first on a GW error and the second on a sacrifice fly-out by sophomore Julia, evening the score at three all and sending the game to an extra inning. George Washington was not able to score in the top of the eighth and senior
Kailee Budicin led off with a single and advanced on a GW outfielder's fielding error. Sophomore
Katherine Schwartz replaced Budicin on second and made it to third on a sacrifice bunt by Tassi. Freshman
Abby Ehrenborg put the ball into play but the Colonial short stop over-threw first, allowing Schwartz to score the winning run for the Flyers.
Winning pitcher:
