SCORING BREAKDOWN
Game One: Dayton 1, Akron 0
With only five total hits in the game, neither team was able to muster up much offense. In the bottom of the third inning, junior
Madi Maloof led off the frame reaching base on a Zip fielding error, was sacrificed over to second by senior
Jaclyn Kweder and then replaced on the bag by freshman
Hannah Heraty. Junior
Kayla Haberstich tallied a RBI on her triple to the right-field fence, plating Heraty for the game's only run scored. Senior left-handed pitcher
Manda Cash recorded her 10th complete game of the year, held Akron to only two hits and tallied five strikeouts.
Winning pitcher: Cash (11-6)
Losing pitcher: Kayla Kmett (1-20)
Game Two: Dayton 3, Akron 2
Akron opened the second game by scoring two quick runs, one in each of the first two innings but Dayton plated two in the third to even the score. Maloof doubled to right-center field and Kweder again sacrificed her over. Heraty replaced Maloof at third base and she scored her second run of the day when the Zips were unable to get her out on a fielder's choice. Junior
Kyle Davidson stole her team-leading 12th base of the season and made it home on a single by senior
Kailee Budicin to set the score at 2-2. Both squads were scoreless through the next three innings but UD was able to keep the game from going to extra innings as Davidson used a two-out single to plate sophomore
Ellie Ziegler for the game-winning run.
Winning pitcher: Cash (12-6) – junior
Jessica Gilliam started the game and worked four innings
Losing pitcher: Kooper Vertz (0-11)
