Kyle Adams followed Capra with an RBI double to right center. A Richmond walk and single loaded the bases for the Spiders, who added two more runs before the end of the inning off a Kyle Schmidt sacrifice fly and Daniel Brumbaugh single up the middle.

Richmond broke open the game in the sixth, when Richmond's Anthony Forte opened the bottom half of the inning with a single through the right single of the infield and then advanced to second on a called balk. Vinny Capra hit a single to move Forte up to third, and then a second balk call of the inning advanced both runners 90 feet each, scoring Forte from third. A Richmond walk and single loaded the bases for the Spiders, who added two more runs before the end of the inning off a Kyle Schmidt sacrifice fly and Daniel Brumbaugh single up the middle.

KEY STATS
  • Tate Hagan led the team with two RBIs and extended his streak of games with at least two RBIs up to four.
  • Hagan was also one of two Flyers to post a multi-hit game, along with Brandon Smith, who both had two hits apiece.
  • Smith, Connor Echols and Mitchell Garrity all had a double, accounting for all three of Dayton's extra base hits on Friday.
  • With both players going 1-for-4 at the plate, Brantley Johnson and Garrity now have reached base streaks of 17 and 16 games, respectively.
  • Johnson also has a team-best five-game hitting streak entering Saturday's game.
  • Starting pitcher Tyler Jones threw 3.1 innings and allowed three runs off eight hits, while walking no batters.
  • Peter Rozman was the first reliever out of the bullpen and worked wonders in leaving Spider stranded on the base paths in his first 1.1 innings on the mound, as he twice got the Flyers out of bases loaded jams in the fourth and fifth innings, but Richmond took advantage of a few hits and two called balks to score four runs in the sixth, which would all be charged to Rozman.
  • RJ Wagner closed out the game with 2.2 scoreless innings on the mound.
UP NEXT
Dayton and Richmond will play game two of the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. before concluding the series on Sunday at noon.
