Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team defeated No. 6 Duquesne by a score of 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Friday. Dayton's overall record now stands at 17-6 this season and the Flyers are advancing on to the semifinals, where they'll face No. 2 Davidson.
Carsten Fisher and
Zach Berry earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles to open the match, but the Flyers ended up finding themselves in an early hole after the doubles point, as Duquense rallied to win each of the next two doubles matches.
Lorenzo Rollhauser and
Steven Karl fell at No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-3 and the deciding No. 2 doubles match went all the way to a tiebreaker, but
Jordan Benjamin and
Theo Jener fell by a 7-6 (1) margin.
Despite an early 1-0 deficit, the Flyers came out and played with a sense of urgency and purpose, winning the first set on each of the six courts in singles play.
Jordan Benjamin tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, which also improved his dual match record to 15-0 this season. Benjamin's winning ways proved to be contagious, as shortly after his win on court one, freshman
Will Harper secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to give the Flyers their first lead of the day. Senior
Carsten Fisher provided some additional breathing room for Dayton with the team's third straight set win of the day to extend Dayton's lead to 3-1. Sophomore

Dayton's semifinal match vs. Davidson is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start time tomorrow. The Flyers and Wildcats also met in last year's Atlantic 10 Championships, as the fifth-seeded Flyers downed fourth-seeded Davidson by a score of 4-3 in the 2017 A-10 quarterfinals. Look below for interviews with
