#UDSB Sweeps Rhode Island With 1-0 Win Sunday

Gilliam, Sidor, Cash Combined For The One-Hit Shutout

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Dayton softball team claimed the Atlantic 10 series sweep over Rhode Island with its 1-0 win Sunday afternoon. Junior Jessica Gilliam, freshman Briley Sidor and senior Manda Cash combined for the one-hit shutout.

Dayton concludes regular season play with an overall record of 28-23 and a 15-8 mark in conference action while Rhode Island finishes the season with a record of 12-35 and went 3-17 in A-10 play. The Flyers finish in third place in A-10 standings and will have the number-three seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Championship.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Sophomore Ellie Ziegler was the only Flyer to score in the series finale after reaching first on a Ram throwing error in the top of the second inning. She was moved to second on a single from junior Madi Maloof and took advantage of a Ram passed ball, scurrying all the way home. In the bottom of the frame, Rhode Island got a runner to third but could not convert. URI would have only one more base runner the rest of the game. Gilliam, Sidor and Cash combined for the one-hit shutout.
