Manda Cash combined for the one-hit shutout.
Dayton concludes regular season play with an overall record of 28-23 and a 15-8 mark in conference action while Rhode Island finishes the season with a record of 12-35 and went 3-17 in A-10 play. The Flyers finish in third place in A-10 standings and will have the number-three seed in next week's Atlantic 10 Championship.

Ellie Ziegler was the only Flyer to score in the series finale after reaching first on a Ram throwing error in the top of the second inning. She was moved to second on a single from junior
Madi Maloof and took advantage of a Ram passed ball, scurrying all the way home. In the bottom of the frame, Rhode Island got a runner to third but could not convert. URI would have only one more base runner the rest of the game. Gilliam, Sidor and Cash combined for the one-hit shutout.

The Flyers will make a quick turnaround, spending one day back in Dayton before heading to the Big Apple for the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Tuesday morning. The tournament is being held at Bahoshy Softball Complex in the Bronx and hosted by Fordham.
