DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team defeated Bowling Green by a score of 14-5 on Tuesday afternoon. Dayton improves to 15-29 this season, while Bowling Green drops to 10-33 overall.
KEY MOMENT
After Dayton led by a 7-2 margin heading into the seventh inning, Bowling Green made a rallying effort with three runs in the top of the frame to cut the Flyer lead down to two.

Michael Cleary responded in the bottom half of the inning with four consecutive hits, culminating with Cleary's two-run triple, which extend Dayton's lead to 10-5 with no outs. Cleary also scored later in the inning on a 
Takahiro Yamada single through the left side to bring the score to 11-5 at the end of seven.

Top 1st: (Bowling Green 1, Dayton 0)
Jake Wilson led off the game by reaching on an error, then advanced to second on a groundball to move into scoring position. Randy Righter drove Wilson home with a single up the middle.
Bottom 1st: (Dayton 3, Bowling Green 1)
Pat Meehan reached on an error, 
Brandon Smith was hit by a pitch, and 
Tate Hagan walked to load the bases for the Flyers, all with two outs. 
Riley Tirotta drew a walk to force home Meehan and 
Michael Cleary followed with a single up the middle to send Smith and Hagan across the plate.
Bottom 4th: (Dayton 6, Bowling Green 1)
Three straight walks by Bowling Green's Damon Egnor loaded the bases again for Dayton and 
Takahiro Yamada belted a two-run double into the left-center gap. With runners on second and third, 
Connor Echols hit a sacrifice fly to extend Dayton's lead to five.
Top 5th: (Dayton 6, Bowling Green 2)
Two straight singles gave the Falcons runners on the corners with one out and RJ Williams hit a sac fly to center field to drive home a runner.
Bottom 6th: (Dayton 7, Bowling Green 2)
Michael Cleary singled to center field and stole second base to give the Flyers a duck on the pond and 
Takahiro Yamada delivered a single through the right side to plate Cleary.
Top 7th: (Dayton 7, Bowling Green 5)
Gama Martinez opened the inning by drawing a walk and then three straight Falcon hitters got a base hit to score a pair and cut the lead to three. Bowling Green added one more when an Anthony Smith groundout to short scored a runner from third.

Bailey Montoya ground ball ricocheted off the Bowling Green shortstop.
 
KEY STATS
	- Michael Cleary (4-for-4) set a number of career highs on the day, including hits (4), RBIs (4), and runs scored (4).
- Cleary also hit his first career triple, which drove home two runners in the bottom of the seventh.
- Takahiro Yamada also set a career-high mark in RBIs with four, including two on a bases loaded double into the left center gap in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-1.
- Yamada finished 3-for-4 at the plate on Tuesday before being replaced by Brantley Johnson in the top of the eighth in the field.
- Freshman Riley Tirotta joined Yamada and Cleary with multiple RBIs on the day, driving two runners across the plate.
- Mitchell Garrity got a leadoff hit in the first inning for the fourth straight game, this time on a double down the left field line, to extend his reached base streak to 22 games and his hitting streak to 10.
- Garrity is the first Flyer batter this season to have a hitting streak reach double digits.
- Starting pitcher Tyler Jones struck out seven batters in just 5.0 innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) and walking no one.
- Justin Longbrake and Peter Rozman threw 1.0 and 1.1 innings of scoreless relief on the mound, respectively.

Dayton will hit the road tomorrow to take on Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Mich. tomorrow at 6 p.m. (ET). The Flyers will also host Rhode Island this weekend for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. (ET). Saturday's game, which is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, is Dayton Baseball's third and final Youth Baseball Day of the season, which will feature a free 30 minute baseball clinic run by the Dayton players and coaching staff. Sunday's game will start at noon and will be Senior Day, as the Flyers will recognize
