Women's Soccer Takes On Undefeated #25 Butler Thursday

Kickoff Is 7 p.m. At Baujan Field And Admission Is Free

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (3-1-0, 0-0-0 A-10) will host undefeated Butler (3-0-0, 0-0-0 Big East) this Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.Ā 
• Ā Admission is free.Ā 
• Ā The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Alex Mikos and Ian Richardson on the call.Ā 
• Ā Promotions include schedule posters and thunder sticks for all.Ā 
• Ā Dayton Flyer vuvuzelas for the first 25 fans.
• Ā Children who wear soccer jerseys to the match will get free popcorn (for first 50 kids).Ā 
• Ā The team will sign autographs after the match.

THE SERIES
• Dayton is 5-2-1 all-time vs. Butler in a series that started in 1991 with a 4-2 UD road win. The last time these two teams met was Oct. 5, 2012 at Butler and the Flyers lost 3-2. UD is 4-0-0 when hosting Butler at Baujan Field.Ā 

FLYER QUICK HITS
• Ā  All of Dayton's goals this season have come in the second half or in OT; the earliest was sophomore Kara Camarco's first collegiate goal to tie up the match vs. Eastern Michigan in the 64th minute.Ā 
• Ā  Six different Flyers have scored goals this season: led by junior Micayla Livingston with two, and one each for senior Keagin Collie, sophomores Morgan Henderson and Camarco, and freshmen Izzy Greene and Hannah Osland.
• Ā  Ā Dayton finished the 2017 season with a 9-9-2 overall record and 4-4-2 Atlantic 10 Conference record.
• Ā  Ā Junior Micayla Livingston is UD's top returning scorer after notching seven goals and five assists last year.
• Ā  Ā Senior defender Nadia Pestell led the Flyers with six assists last season.
• Ā  Ā Senior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns has started 65 matches in her career and has 279 career saves. Her 15 career shutouts are fourth all-time at UD, including a career-high seven shutouts last season.Ā 
• UD has 11 freshmen on its roster this season.Ā 
• Head coach Eric Golz is in his second season at the helm of the Flyers. He previously served as an assistant at UD in 2011.Ā 

SCOUTING BUTLER
• Butler returns nine starters from a 2017 team that posted a 13-2-6 overall record, finished 5-0-4 in the conference and made their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs were picked to finish second in the 2018 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches poll.Ā 
• Butler is currently ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.Ā 
• Senior forward Paige Monaghan, the 2017 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, was named Offensive Player of the Week after leading Butler to two wins last week, including a 4-1 victory over No. 20 Notre Dame on Sunday. For the week, Monaghan totaled seven points off two goals and three assists. Five of those points came against the nationally ranked Irish.
• Redshirt junior defender Annika Schmidt was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. She led the defensive effort in Butler's 2-0 week.

WEEK 2 RESULTSĀ 
• The Flyers lost a tough match to Louisville Thursday, Aug. 23, falling 1-0 with an own goal the only tally in the match. Louisville is currently undefeated and is coming off a 4-1 win over Michigan.Ā 
• Dayton bounced back with a 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan Sunday, Aug. 26. After being down 1-0 in the first half, the Flyers tallied three goals in a matter of 12 minutes: sophomore Kara Camarco in the 64th, and Micayla Livingston with two goals (74th and 76th minutes). Kaelyn Johns had seven saves in the win.Ā 

JOHNS ONE OF TOP IN THE NATION
• Ā UD senior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns is ranked 9th in the nation in career saves (279) amongst current goalkeepers.
• Ā Johns is ranked 4th in the nation in career minutes played (5,895.17).

FLYERS STILL RANKED NO. 6
Dayton is ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches' Week Two East Regional Poll, staying in the same spot as the first poll.Ā 

BELIEVIN' IN BAUJANĀ 
• The Flyers are 224-67-22 all-time in games played n their home field, Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 68-15-7 at home, an astounding .800 winning percentage at Baujan.Ā 

FLYERS WIN JMU INVITATIONAL
• The Dayton women's soccer team was the only team to go 2-0-0 at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational (Aug. 16 &19).Ā 
• Two freshmen scored in Dayton's 2-1 come-from-behind win over the host James Madison Thursday, Aug. 16. Hannah Osland scored UD's first goal of 2018 in the 80th minute and Izzy Greene had the game-winner in the 89th minute. It was her first-ever collegiate shot, resulting in her first goal.
• Freshmen Grace Rickett and Hannah Osland, and sophomore Morgan Henderson earned their first collegiate starts in the match vs. JMU.Ā 
• The Flyers defeated William & Mary 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, Aug. 19. Senior Keagin Collie scored in the 79th minute, but the Tribe tied it shortly after. Sophomore Morgan Henderson scored the golden goal in the 96th minute on an assist from Sara Robertson. It marked Henderson's first collegiate goal.Ā 

GREENE EARNS A-10 HONOR
• Ā Izzy Greene was named the first Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the 2018 season. The award is for games played Aug. 16-19.
• Ā Greene scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to give the Flyers a come-from-behind victory on the road over James Madison in the JMU Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. It was her first collegiate shot which resulted in her first collegiate goal. • Ā The Lyndhurst, Ohio product also had a game-high two shots in Dayton's 2-1 OT win over William & Mary as the Flyers won the weekend tournament.Ā 

HOME SWEET HOME
• Ā  Ā Dayton has 10 home matches on its home Baujan Field this season.Ā 
• Ā  Ā Baujan Field will be the site of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship semifinals on Nov. 2 and the final on Nov. 4.Ā 

FLYERS PICKED 7TH IN A-10 POLL
• The Dayton women's soccer team was selected Ā to finish seventh in the 2018 Atlantic 10 standings in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches.Ā 

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUNDĀ 
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016).Ā 
• UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five.Ā 
• Dayton has appeared in 21 A-10 tournaments, earning a berth every year the Flyers have been a member of the conference.Ā
