The Flyers Gave Up Their First Goals At Home This Year

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's soccer team suffered its first home loss this season with a 2-0 defeat to West Virginia Saturday night at Baujan Field.

The Flyers (4-2-3) had not allowed a goal at home going into the game while the Mountaineers (5-3-0) had scored just one previously away from home.

  • Junior Rok Taneski had a game-high seven shots while freshman Elias Harryson had three shots.
  • Goalkeeper Federico Barrios had two saves.
  • The Flyers gave up their first goals at home this season.
  • West Virginia scored in the 35th and 73rd minutes.
  • Attendance for the game was 955.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"It was a disappointing game for us," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We had a great crowd tonight with Parents Weekend. We just fell short offensively. We didn't get dangerous enough. We have had the issue of being more accurate in the final third and that continued tonight. We wanted to get the lead early in the game. We fell short and let them in the game too long. They are a good enough team to punish you which they ended up doing. We just have to keep focusing on the attacking third. We've got another big game coming up to finish non-conference, but the good thing is it's at home."

UP NEXT
  • The Flyers remain at home to host Northern Kentucky Wednesday at Baujan Field at 7 p.m.
