DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads to D.C. for its first Atlantic 10 road game of the season, taking on George Washington Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is 7-6 overall this season and 2-0 in A-10 play. The Flyers are riding a three-game winning streak, but are 0-4 in true road games this year.
Head coach
Shauna Green is the reigning A-10 Coach of the Year and is in her third season at the helm of the Flyers. With a 52-22 record at Dayton and three conference titles, expectations are high for the program.
As a team, the Flyers are outscoring opposing teams by +7.8 on the year, but +33.5 in conference games. Dayton is shooting 38.1 percent overall, 32.0 percent from three, and 69.8 percent from the free throw line.
Dayton is led by junior
Jayla Scaife with 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Senior
Lauren Cannatelli is adding 12.2 points and shooting 91.4 percent from the free throw line. Redshirt junior
Shakeela Fowler is also contributing 10 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in conference play as well.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington got off to a slow start to the regular season, going 4-11 overall, but won its last contest 64-59 at Rhode Island. The Colonials are 1-1 in A-10 play and 3-5 at home this year.
Head coach Jennifer Rizzotti is in her third season in charge of GW and led the Colonials to an A-10 Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
GW is scoring 50.5 points per game and giving up 58.7 points to opponents. The Colonials are shooting 33.6 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from behind the arc, and 61.4 percent from the charity stripe. GW has to overcome a -4.8 rebounding margin and -1.0 turnover margin.
Leading the Colonials is Neila Luma, with 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, and Mei-Lyn Bautista, with 9.4 points and 3.5 assists per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton cruised to a 75-47 win over Massachusetts in the second conference game of the season, leading by as much as 37 in the contest. The Flyers led the majority of the contest with Scaife and Fowler scoring 17 and 16 points respectively.
GW earned its first A-10 win with a 64-59 win over Rhode Island on the road Wednesday. The Colonials and Rams were tied going into halftime, but a strong fourth quarter gave the visitors the win. Neila Luma led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds.
THE SERIES
Dayton and George Washington have met 42 times previously with the Colonials having 31 wins compared to the Flyers' 11 wins. GW won the first 24 meetings, but Dayton has won the last two, including a 57-53 win on Feb. 11 last season in D.C.
IN CONFERENCE PLAY
The Flyers have dominated in the early stages of the conference season, outscoring opponents by a +33.5 margin and outrebounding them by a +17.5 margin. Dayton is holding opposing teams to 46.0 points per game and 26.1 percent shooting from the floor.
THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 550 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.
FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 91 of its last 110 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.826), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.
70'S THE MAGIC NUMBER
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 152-18 (.903) when scoring 70 or more points, including 11-1 in 2016-17. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.

PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites Duquesne. With two first-place votes and 183 points, the Flyers were picked ahead of Fordham, George Washington, and Saint Joseph's.

The Atlantic 10 released its preseason all-conference teams and recognized a pair of Flyers as junior
Jayla Scaife was named First Team All-Conference as well as All-Defensive Team while senior
Lauren Cannatelli was named Second Team All-Conference.
