The Game Will Be Nationally Televised On CBS Sports

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host Fordham Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is 8-7 this season and 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers have won four of their last five and are 6-1 at home this year. UD's last home loss was over two months ago on Nov. 17 against Northeastern.

Head coach Shauna Green is the reigning A-10 Coach of the Year and is in her third season at the helm of the Flyers. With a 53-23 record at Dayton and three conference titles, expectations are high for the program.

As a team, the Flyers are scoring 65.4 points per game and giving up just 57.9 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 38.0 percent overall, 31.4 percent from three, and 67.2 percent from the free throw line. UD also benefits from a +3.5 rebounding margin.

Dayton is led by junior Jayla Scaife with 15.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Senior Lauren Cannatelli is adding 11.3 points and shooting 91.4 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers have relied on a deep bench in conference play so far this season.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham comes to Dayton with a 12-6 record on the year and a 3-1 A-10 mark. The Rams suffered their first conference lost on Wednesday and will be looking to avenge a pair of losses to the Flyers from last season. Fordham is 3-3 in true road games in 2018-19.

Head coach Stephanie Gaitley is in her eighth season at Fordham and boasts 620 career wins in 33 years of service.  She guided the Rams to their first A-10 Tournament Championship last season and is the programs all-time winningest coach.

Fordham leads the A-10 in fewest turnovers, assist-to-turnover ratio, rebound margin, three point field goals made, and turnovers per game, a category in which the Rams lead the country. As a team, Fordham shoots 38.7 percent from the floor, 30.1 percent from behind the arc, and 71.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Leading the Rams is reigning NCAA Player of the Week Bre Cavanaugh, who is averaging 17.8 pionts, 7.4 rebounds, and a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. Mary Goulding is chipping in 10.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as well.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton earned its first road conference win of the season, defeating St. Bonaventure 62-49 Wednesday. Jayl Scaife led the way with 12 points and nine rebounds while Brittany Ward had 10 points and four boards.

Fordham suffered its first conference loss on Wednesday, falling to VCU at home 47-44. The Rams scored just four points in the fourth quarter and 14 points in the second half entirely. Cavanaugh and Goulding had 12 points each.

THE SERIES
Dayton and Fordham have played 29 times previously with the Flyers dominating the series with 23 victories. The Flyers have won two in a row, including the last meeting on Feb. 18 at home, 79-54, clinching their second straight regular season A-10 title.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
The Flyers lead the Atlantic 10 in rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game while ranking sixth in the nation in three point field goal percentage defense. Individually, Lauren Cannatelli leads the A-10 in free throw percentage with a 91.4 percent mark and ranks 10th nationally.

FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 92 of its last 112 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.826), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.

COACH GREEN EARNS 50TH WIN AT DAYTON
Dayton head coach Shauna Green earned her 50th win at UD in just two and half seasons with the win over Georgia Tech at the West Palm Beach Invite. Coach Green became the fastest Flyer coach to reach that mark since joining Division I and the fastest overall since Coach Maryalyce Jermiah led the Division II Dayton squad to back-to-back National Championship appearances in 1978-80.

CANNATELLI SETS THREE-POINT MARK
Senior Lauren Cannatelli set her second Dayton school record last season by hitting her 79th three-pointer of the year on Feb. 24 at Saint Louis. The Cincinnati native surpassed former Flyer Andrea Hoover by making her 79th three-pointer of the campaign, joining her single-game record of 10 made three's from earlier last season.

THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 552 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites Duquesne. With two first-place votes and 183 points, the Flyers were picked ahead of Fordham, George Washington, and Saint Joseph's.

PRESEASON HONORS
The Atlantic 10 released its preseason all-conference teams and recognized a pair of Flyers as junior Jayla Scaife was named First Team All-Conference as well as All-Defensive Team while senior Lauren Cannatelli was named Second Team All-Conference.

WE'VE GOT AN AUDIENCE
On Dec. 9, 2017, the Flyers played in front of 9,007 fans at UD Arena while hosting Toledo. The season-best crowd was due to the overwhelming success of UD's annual School Day game, a chance for local school-aged children to take a field trip with the Flyers. With a home attendance average of 2,605, Dayton ranked 48th out of 349 DI programs. This year's School Day game against Colgate in the season opener had 8,811 fans in attendance.

UP NEXT
Dayton heads back out on the road for its third away game in four contests as the Flyers take on Saint Louis at 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
