Box Score Toledo, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team opened up its season with a 5-2 win over Toledo on Monday afternoon. The Flyers start of the 2019 season 1-0, while Toledo drops to 1-3 on the year.
Dayton got on the scoreboard with
Langford Hills and
Joe DeMarco clinching the doubles point on court no. 2, 6-4, to take a 1-0 lead.
Spencer Richey and
Jordan Benjamin also won their match at No. 1 doubles by a 6-4 margin.
Dayton's lead stood at 3-2 after splitting the first four completed singles matches. Senior
Jordan Benjamin picked up where he left off last season with another win at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Benjamin won by a score of 6-2, 6-4, while junior
Spencer Richey also won in straight sets at No. 3 with a 6-2, 7-6 victory.
Redshirt senior
Langford Hills clinched the team's win on court No. 2 with a line of 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 and senior
Lorenzo Rollhauser earned a 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 win on court No. 6 to round out the scores for the day.
