SAINT LOUIS - The University of Dayton women's basketball team fought back and battled through three overtimes, but came up just short at Saint Louis Wednesday.
The Flyers (9-8, 4-2 A-10) suffer their second A-10 loss while the Billikens (8-11, 3-3 A-10) move to .500 in league play.

rd overtime – After outplaying the Billikens in the second half and matching them in the first two overtimes, the Flyers were outscored by just three points in the final period.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 19, Saint Louis 21
- Saint Louis jumped out to a 7-2 lead out of the gates.
- The host Billikens had the crowd of over 7,000 behind them to start and hit their first four shots in the contest.
- After swinging the ball around the court, redshirt junior Shakeela Fowler hit a big three to close the gap to 9-7.
- By the media break, UD trailed by just one at 11-0 after forcing three SLU turnovers without committing one of its own.
- The teams traded baskets back and forth over the final four minutes with neither team budging.
- Junior Jayla Scaife already scored 10 points in the first 10 minutes.
- UD didn't not commit a turnover in the first quarter.
- SLU shot 69.2 percent in the first as well.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 26, Saint Louis 34
- Both teams settled in in the early stages of the second with the pace of the game slowing down.
- The Flyers held the Billikens during a 4:01 and an 0-for-5 scoring drought.
- Midway through the quarter, Dayton was down 26-23 to SLU.
- Harbison was the first Billiken to reach double figures with 10 points.
- Dayton ended the quarter on a four minute scoring drought.
- UD shot 30 percent in the first 20 minutes while SLU shot 55.6 percent.
- The Billikens outrebounded the Flyers 20-13 and outscored them 20-10 in the paint.
- Scaife led Dayton with 15 points and five rebounds.

rd Quarter: Dayton 38, Saint Louis 45
- Senior Lauren Cannatelli got an offensive rebound, bucket, and a free throw to close the gap in the first minute of the third.
- Dayton suffered from another 0-for-6 drought over a three minute stretch.
- At the media timeout, the Billikens still led by eight at 41-33.
- SLU pushed its lead to double digits by the 2:49 mark at 44-33.
- Both teams struggled down the stretch to change the momentum in their favor.
4th Quarter: Dayton 50, Saint Louis 50
- Dayton made it a four-point game to start the fourth with a three from Cannatelli, her first of the game.
- Saint Louis called a timeout at the 8:52 mark to try and stifle a Dayton run.
- Fowler hit a runner out of the break to cut the margin to two.
- By the media break, the score was SLU 50, UD 46.
- Scaife hit a pair of free throws to make it a two point game.
- Senior Maddy Dennis then hit a layup with four seconds left to tie the game up.
- SLU didn't score for the last 5:49 of the quarter.
Overtime – Dayton 55, Saint Louis 55
- SLU scored right out of the gate on a drive to take the early lead.
- Scaife then hit a free throw before Dennis tipped the rebound back to the Flyers with a chance to take the lead with under 2:00 to play.
- Senior Tiaera Phillips had a third great stop on SLU's Harbison to get the ball back to UD with a chance to win and :24 left.
- SLU hits one free throw to tie it at 53-53, but missed the second with UD having 5.9 to play.
- UD was unable to convert so it meant a second overtime.

nd Overtime – Dayton 58, Saint Louis 58
- Fowler strikes first for Dayton with a layup and a free throw to give the Flyers a three-point lead with 3:47 to play.
- Scaife then added a jumper to make it 58-53.
- SLU closed the gap back to three at 58-55 with 3:00 to play.
- The Billikens then got a free throw and a runner to tie the game with :35 to go.
- Neither team could hit their chance to win and it meant five more minutes.

rd Overtime – Dayton 65, Saint Louis 68
- The Billikens got the lead back with a pair of free throws at the 2:35 mark.
- They got two more to double their advantage.
- Dennis hit a big three to make it 64-61 and Dayton had to start fouling.
- SLU was able to hold off Dayton for the win.

Jayla Scaife scored 22 points to lead UD while grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds.
53 – Dayton matched Saint Louis with 53 rebounds each.
