#UDWBB Hosts Saint Joseph's Sunday On ESPNU

The Flyers Look To Improve Their A-10 Standing

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host Saint Joseph's Sunday at 12 p.m. ET at UD Arena. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton heads into the weekend with a 9-8 record overall, a 4-2 Atlantic 10 mark, and sits in fourth in the conference standings. The Flyers are 7-1 at home this season as well.

Head coach Shauna Green is the reigning A-10 Coach of the Year and is in her third season at the helm of the Flyers. With a 54-24 record at Dayton and three conference titles, expectations are high for the program.

As a team, the Flyers are outscoring opponents by a +7.8 margin and scoring 65.8 points per game. Dayton is shooting 37.7 percent from the field, 32.1 percent from three, and 66.6 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers have a +3.8 rebounding margin, which leads the A-10.

Dayton is led by junior Jayla Scaife, who is averaging 15.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game, and coming off a 22-point, 17-rebound performance. Senior Lauren Cannatelli is adding 11.5 points per game as well.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's comes to Dayton with a 6-13 record on the year with a 2-4 A-10 mark, sitting in 11th place in the conference. The Hawks are 1-7 on the road this season and have lost five straight road games.

Head coach Cindy Griffin is the all-time leader in wins at Saint Joesph's, boasting 363 career wins.  She is in her 18th season with the Hawks and has a veteran squad with eight seniors or fifth-year seniors.

Saint Joes averages just 53.1 points per game and allows 56.8 to opponents. The Hawks shoot 36 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from behind the arc, and 68.3 percent from the charity stripe. SJU also has to overcome a -3.9 rebounding margin and -0.2 turnover margin.

Leading the Hawks is reigning A-10 Player of the Week Alyssa Monaghan, who is averaging 14.0 points and 3.5 assists per game. Four other Hawks are averaging 6.0 points or better as well.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton suffered a triple overtime loss on the road at Saint Louis Wednesday, 68-65. The Flyers rallied from a 10-point deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback. Jayla Scaife had 22 points and 17 rebounds in the game.

Saint Joseph's also had a heartbreaking loss, falling at Richmond Wednesday, 46-45. The Hawks took a second half lead after outscoring the Spiders 21-8 in the third, but fell short. Alyssa Monaghan had a team-high 14 points.

THE SERIES
Dayton and Saint Joseph's have met 30 times previously with the Flyers winning 17 times and the Hawks winning 13 times. In the last meeting, UD was victorious 65-59 on the road. The Flyers have won six times previously.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
The Flyers lead the Atlantic 10 in rebound margin, rebounds per game, and defensive rebounds per game. Dayton has the fifth-best three point field goal percentage defense in the nation and sixth best defensive rebounds per game mark. Individually, Lauren Cannatelli leads the A-10 in free throw percentage.

CANNATELLI JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior Lauren Cannatelli became the 26th Flyer in program history to score 1,000 points after hitting a three at James Madison on Dec. 3. The senior guard joins an elite group of Flyers including hall of famers, all-americans, and players of the year, including her teammate from last season Jenna Burdette.

GREEN NAMED 2018 A-10 COACH OF THE YEAR
Head coach Shauna Green was named A-10 Coach of the Year in just her second year in charge. She guided the Flyers to historic seasons already and has a .746 winning percentage in 60 games.

FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 93 of its last 114 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.826), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.

COUNTDOWN FOR CANNATELLI'S CAREER MARK
Senior Lauren Cannatelli is just nine made three pointers shy of setting a new school record for made three pointers in a career. Already holding the single game, single season, and career three pointers attempted, Cannatelli will be looking to sweep the three point records in Dayton history. With 240 three's, the Cincinnati native would pass former Flyers Andrea Hoover (2011-15)
