Box Score Crestview Heights, Ky. – The University of Dayton tennis team defeated Northern Kentucky by a score of on Saturday evening. The Flyers improve to 2-1 on the year after opening the season with a 5-2 win over Toledo before falling to Belmont on Friday. The Norse's record falls to 0-4 with the loss.

Steven Karl both picked up 6-2 wins on courts one and two, respectively.
Parker Banning and
Jayman Jhattu were tied with their opponents at 4-all before the match was abandoned once the Flyers clinched the doubles point.
Jordan Benjamin and
Langford Hills will both have a shot at Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, as both won their matches on Saturday to improve to a perfect 3-0 this week to open the 2019 season. Benjamin won in straight sets over Aleksander Sadal by a score of 6-2, 6-2, while Hills took down Nathan Schwartz on a line of 7-5, 6-7 (6), 1-0.
Spencer Richey and
Steven Karl were responsible for the other points picked up by Dayton on courts three and five, respectively. Both won in straight sets, with Richey downing Jorge Rodriguez-Agudo by a score of 6-3, 6-3 and Karl earning a 6-3, 6-2 win over Chris Murray.
Also of note,
Parker Banning made his season debut in the lineup and fell in a hard-fought three-set match at No. 6 to Felipe Hidalgo.
Dayton's next match is a Feb. 1 home matchup against Cleveland State at the Five Seasons Sports Complex. The Vikings were picked as the preseason favorites in the Horizon League by the conference's coaches.
