DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team hosts Oakland on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the final non-conference game of the season at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are 6-7 overall this season and 2-2 in Atlantic 10 games. UD has been successful at home though, going 5-1 at Baujan Field.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 15th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 145 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a veteran squad this season with seven seniors and 10 returning starters.
Overall, Dayton is scoring 2.08 goals per game and holding opposing teams to 1.46 each contest. The Flyers are outshooting opponents 14.4 to 13.8 and at a higher percentage.
The Flyers are led by junior
Jonas Fjeldberg, who has six goals and six assists on the year, and freshman
Toluwalase Oladeinbo, who has added a team-high seven goals. Senior goalkeeper
Federico Barrios has four shutouts and 41 saves in 12 starts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
OAKLAND
Oakland comes to Dayton with a 6-4-2 record on the season and a 4-0-1 Horizon League mark. The Grizzlies are 4-2-1 on the road this season and have won two of their last three games. Head coach Eric Pogue is in his 10th season at Oakland.
As a team, Oakland is averaging 2.00 goals each match and allowing just 1.17 goals to opponents. Th Grizzlies are outshooting opposing squads 14.5 to 9.3 each game and has a 73-46 corner kick advantage.
Oakland's Dylan Borczak is the main offensive threat with four goals and eight assists, both of which lead the Grizzlies. Charlie Braithwaite also has four goals on the season as well. Goalkeeper Sullivan Lauderdale has 35 saves and three shutouts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Oakland have played 20 times previously with the Flyers winning four matches and the Grizzlies winning 10 games. In last year's meeting, UD and Oakland drew 1-1 in double overtime in Michigan.
LAST OUTING
Dayton powered its way to a 6-2 victory over St. Bonaventure in A-10 play Saturday at home. Fjeldberg has five assists in the game while sophomore
Kingsford Adjei had a hat-trick and an assist.
Oakland had a 4-0 win over IUPUI at home Saturday to remain unbeaten in the Horizon League. The Grizzlies scored three goals in the second half and outshot the Jaguars 21-6.
