DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team heads back out on the road to Saint Joseph's Saturday at 7 p.m. at Sweeney Field.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are one of the hottest teams in the Atlantic 10 right now, winning four straight games and going 7-1 at home. UD is 9-7 on the year and 4-2 in A-10 play.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 15th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 148 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a veteran squad this season with seven seniors and 10 returning starters.
Overall, Dayton ranks fourth in the nation in assists, fifth in points, and eighth in goals, all which lead the A-10. The Flyers have the most prolific offense in the conference with 2.13 goals per game and giving up just 1.25 goals per game.
The Flyers are led by reigning A-10 Offensvive Player of the Week junior
Jonas Fjeldberg, who has nine goals and nine assists on the season. He ranks third in the nation in assists and eighth in points while having the second-most shots on goal each game. A-10 Rookie of the Week
Toluwalase Oladeinbo has eight goals as well. Goalkeeper
Federico Barrios has six shutouts and 55 saves in 14 starts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's has struggled this season, going 5-10-1 overall and winning just once in its last eight games. The Hawks are 1-5 in A-10 games and 3-7 at home this year. Head coach Don D'Ambra is in his 10th season at SJU.
As a team, the Hawks are averaging 1.38 goals each contest and allowing 1.88 to opposing squads. Saint Joes is being outshot 15.0 to 11.9, but shooting at a higher on goal percentage.
The Hawks are led by Leon Maric's four goals and three assists while Alvin Dahn has four goals as well. Garrett Lyons has chipped in three goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Joseph Boehm ranks second in the conference with 71 saves and two shutouts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Saint Joseph's have played 18 times with the Flyers winning 15 of those contests. In 2017, UD won 3-2 at home.
LAST OUTING
Dayton earned its fourth-straight win and seventh home victory with a 2-0 decision over Duquesne Wednesday. Fjeldberg scored the game-winner and added an assist to
Kingsford Adjei.
Saint Joseph's suffered a 2-0 defeat at George Washington Wednesday after the Colonials scored twice in the second half.
UP NEXT
Dayton has a break during the week next week before hosting George Washington in the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field. There will be a senior day ceremony prior to the game.
