#UDWSOC To Take On La Salle Saturday In A-10 Quarterfinal

The Flyers Will Be Playing In Their 23rd A-10 Tournament

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (7-8-3, 5-3-2 A-10) is the No. 5 seed and will face the No. 4 seed La Salle (10-7-1, 6-4-0 A-10) Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. in the quarterfinals on the campus of La Salle University at McCarthy Stadium.
• The winner advances to the semifinals, which will be held on the campus of Saint Louis University at Hermann Stadium, to take on the victor of the No. 1 seed Saint Louis vs. No. 8 seed Duquesne match. The semifinals are on Friday, Nov. 8. 
• The championship final will be played Sunday, Nov. 10 at noon at Hermann Stadium, with the winner earning the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
• All three rounds of the championship will be streamed on the ESPN+.

THE SERIES
• Dayton is 18-9-2 vs. La Salle, including 8-7-0 when playing the Explorers on the road. 
• La Salle won the last meeting 3-2, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half on Oct. 27 in Philadelphia to clinch home field advantage in the A-10 quarterfinal. 
• The Flyers won the previous meeting, 2-1 in overtime at Baujan Field on Oct. 11, 2018 on two own goals by the Explorers.  

FLYER FACTS
•  The Flyers went 2-5-1 overall in the non-conference portion of their 2019 schedule. 
•  Dayton is 6-2-1 at Baujan Field this season, and 1-6-2 on the road, picking up its only road win of the season with a 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure. 
•  The Flyers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 15 to close out non-conference play. 
•  UD opened Atlantic 10 play with a 2-0 shutout over George Mason at Baujan on Sept. 22. The Flyers followed that with a 0-0 tie vs. Rhode Island at home. The three-match shutout streak was ended by a 4-1 loss at Saint Louis. 
•  Six of UD's eight losses have been by one goal (Illinois 3-2, DePaul 1-0, Bowling Green 2-1 in double overtime - with just six seconds left in the match, Indiana State 1-0, VCU 1-0, and La Salle 3-2). 
• Dayton's leading scorers are two freshmen: Alexis Goins with seven goals and three assists (17 points) and Laney Huber with four goals and five assists (13 points). Landy Mertz is fourth on the team with three goals and two assists (eight points).
• Huber leads the Flyers in assists with five. Goins, senior Micayla Livingston, and freshman Yaiza Navarro Leon have three assists each. 
• Nine different Flyers have scored goals this season: Goins (6), Huber and senior Jordan Pauley (3), Mertz and senior Caroline Mink (2), and freshmen Jessica Sheldon and Audrey Steiert, sophomore Izzy Greene, and senior Micayla Livingston (1). 
• Six different Flyers have scored game-winning goals with senior Caroline Mink leading the way with two (vs. Miami and vs. Duquesne). Jordan Pauley (vs. Fordham), Jessica Sheldon (vs. Davidson), Alexis Goins (vs. St. Bonaventure), Micayla Livingston (vs. George Mason) and Laney Huber (vs. Eastern Michigan) have one each. 
• Redshirt sophomore Carly Becker has started 13 matches in goal for Dayton. She has 32 saves and a 1.52 GAA with five shutouts. 
• Senior Emily Jones earned her first collegiate start vs. UMass. She came in the match vs. Davidson in the second half and earned the win. She's started every match since. She is 3-2-1 in goal for Dayton with one shutout, 24 saves and a .92 GAA. 

SCOUTING LA SALLE
• La Salle is 10-7-1 overall and 6-4-0 in A-10 play, finishing in fourth place. 
• The Explorers are 6-2-0 in home matches this season. 
• They are led by Maci Bower with 10 goals. Amirah Louketis is second with five goals. 
• Leah Giles leads La Salle in assists with four. 
• Claudia Jenkins has seen action in all 18 matches in goal for La Salle. She has 93 saves and a 1.47 GAA. 
• La Salle won the A-10 regular season and tournament title in 2017. 

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND 
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). 
• UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five. 
• Dayton has appeared in 22 A-10 tournaments, earning a berth every year the Flyers have been a member of the conference. This will be the 23rd tournament the Flyers have secured a berth. 
• In 2018, the Flyers were the No. 8 seed and lost at No. 1 seed Saint Louis. The Billikens went on to win the A-10 title. 
• In 2017, the Flyers were the No. 8 seed and lost to No. 1 seed La Salle 3-2. The Explorers went on to win the A-10 title that year.

FLYERS PICKED 6TH IN A-10 POLL
• The Dayton women's soccer team was selected to finish sixth in the 2019 Atlantic 10 standings in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches. They were picked to finish seventh last year and ended the season in eighth place with the final spot into the A-10 Tournament. 
• Defending champion Saint Louis was picked to finish first with 192 points and 13 first-place votes.
