DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will close out the 2019 regular season at home this weekend with two matches at Frericks Center. Dayton will host Davidson Friday night with first serve between the Flyers and Wildcats set for 7 p.m.
Scouting Dayton
Dayton (19-7, 12-0 A-10) enters the weekend in a tie for first place in Atlantic 10 standings as it prepares to close out the 2019 regular season at home. As a team, the Flyers rank first in the A-10 in kills/set (14.01) and assists/set (12.73). UD's offense is led by six-time A-10 Player of the Week sophomore
Jamie Peterson with 4.67 kills/set (13th NCAA, 1st A-10), 5.58 points/set (7th NCAA, 1st A-10) and 0.45 service aces/set (34th NCAA, 2nd A-10). On the defensive side, reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week junior
Olivia Dubay averages 1.13 blocks/set (4th A-10) and sophomore
Maura Collins passes a team-best 4.19 digs/set (5th A-10).
Scouting Davidson
Davidson (10-15, 5-7 A-10) dropped its last two conference matches and currently sits in sixth place in league standings. Two Wildcats rank among the top four best hitting percentages in the conference including including Madeline Wynn who ranks fourth with her .342 average while also recording 1.15 blocks/set (3rd A-10). Sydney Champaigne serves as the team's primary setter (9.52 assists/set, 4th A-10) and Josie Treadell leads the team with 3.82 digs/set (7th A-10).
Series Stuff
Dayton leads, 8-0
Over the last five seasons, Dayton has defeated Davidson by a combined set score of 24-1, dropping only one set to the Wildcats on Sept. 28, 2018.
Up Next
Dayton will close out the regular season Sunday with a match against VCU. With wins by both the Flyers and the Rams on Friday, Sunday's match will decide the A-10 regular season champion. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Frericks Center. Senior Day recognition will take place right before the match.
