Men’s Soccer Finishes As Runners-Up In A-10 Championship

The Flyers Finish The Season 13-8

BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Dayton men's soccer team competed in the Atlantic 10 Championship title game Sunday afternoon in New York, but fell short 1-0 to Rhode Island.

The Flyers (13-8) finish their 2019 campaign while the Rams (14-3-3) will represent the A-10 in the NCAA Tournament.  

KEY STATS
  • Rhode Island scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute on the counter attack.
  • The Flyers had 11 shots in the game compared to the Rams' 12 attempts.
  • Dayton had more shots on goal though, three compared to URI's two.
  • Rhode Island had an 8-3 corner kick advantage.
  • Fouls were 21-9 in Dayton's favor.
  • Sophomore Kingsford Adjei and junior Jonas Fjeldberg both had four shots in the game to lead UD.
  • The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for the Flyers.
  • Dayton's 13 wins were tied for the third most in school history. The eight-game streak was also third in program history.
