DAYTON - In a battle of unbeatens for the Atlantic 10 regular season title, VCU topped Dayton volleyball 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, 14-11) Sunday afternoon at Frericks Center. Senior Sierra Pla set a new career high with 10 kills on Senior Day.

Dayton ends the 2019 regular season with a 20-8 overall mark and a 13-1 record in league games while VCU moves to 23-5 on the season and 14-0 in conference matches.

After finishing in second place in A-10 standings, Dayton will be the number two seed in the upcoming A-10 Championship and will receive a first-round bye.

KEY STATS
• 26 - sophomore Jamie Peterson led all attackers with 26 kills. She also tallied 10 digs for the match for her 11 double-double of the season
• 24 - sophomore Josie Vondran was one off her career high with 24 assists. She also contributed five kills, three digs and two blocks
• 10 - Pla's career-high 10 kills was a result of her .562 hitting percentage for the match, She also had two assists, two digs and two blocks
• 16.0 - as a team, VCU out-blocked UD, 16.0 to 8.0

Dayton will be traveling to Kingston, R.I. on Thursday to take part in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship. Second-seeded Dayton will play the winner of the #3/#6 match on Saturday at 7 p.m.
