DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads on the road for its first away game of the season, taking on Toledo Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at Savage Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton heads north with a 1-0 record overall after defeating Lipscomb in the season opener Tuesday. The Flyers are 1-0 at home after going 13-1 at UD Arena last year. UD was 2-11 in road games in 2018-19.

Head coach Shauna Green is in her fourth season in charge of the Flyers and already has two tournament and one regular season conference titles, as well as being the former A-10 Coach of the Year in 2018.

As a team, the Flyers are scoring 82.0 points per game and giving up 60.0 to opponents. UD is shooting 38.8 percent overall, 20.0 percent from three, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers also benefit from a +21.0 rebounding margin and +4.0 turnover margin.

Dayton is led by redshirt junior Erin Whalen, who is averaging 19.0 points per game, while sophomore Kyle Whitehead is averaging a double-double with 12.0 points and 12.0 rebounds each outing.

SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toledo hosts the Flyers in its first home game at Savage Arena, heading into the weekend with a 1-0 record overall. The Rockets are coming off a 74-48 win over Georgia State Tuesday.

Head coach Tricia Cullop is in her 12th season in charge of the Rockets. She has 365 career wins.

Through one game this season, Toledo is averaging 74.0 points per game while allowing just 48.0 points each contest. The Rockets are outrebounding opponents 47-22 and committing fewer turnovers.

The Rockets are led by Tanaya Beacham with 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while Mariella Santucci is adding 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton earned an 82-60 win over Lipscomb in the season opener at home Tuesday, thanks to double-digit scoring games from Whalen, Whitehead, and redshirt senior Shakeela Fowler.

Toledo won its season opener at Georgia State on Tuesday, 74-48. Four players scored in double figures, led by Tanaya Beacham with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

THE SERIES
Dayton and Toledo have played 25 times previously with the Flyers winning 14 contests and the Rockets winning 10. In last year's meeting on Nov. 21, the Flyers won at home 70-49. Jayla Scaife had 18 points to lead UD.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
The Flyers ranked ninth in the country last season in field goal percentage defense and seventh in the nation in scoring defense. On top of that, they forced the 12th most turnovers in the country.

FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 99 of its last 124 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.817), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.

COACH GREEN EARNS 50TH WIN AT DAYTON
Dayton head coach Shauna Green earned her 50th win at UD in just two and half seasons with the win over Georgia Tech at the West Palm Beach Invite. Coach Green became the fastest Flyer coach to reach that mark since joining Division I and the fastest overall since Coach Maryalyce Jermiah led the Division II Dayton squad to back-to-back National Championship appearances in 1978-80.

THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 569 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

WE'VE GOT AN AUDIENCE
On Dec. 9, 2017, the Flyers played in front of 9,007 fans at UD Arena while hosting Toledo. The season-best crowd was due to the overwhelming success of UD's annual School Day game, a chance for local school-aged children to take a field trip with the Flyers. With a home attendance average of 2,605, Dayton ranked 48th out of 349 DI programs. This year's School Day game will take place on Dec. 5 against Morehead State.

70'S THE MAGIC NUMBER
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 160-18 (.898) when scoring 70 or more points, including 11-1 in 2016-17. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.

SCAIFE JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior scored her 1,000th career point on March 8 against Davidson in the A-10 Tournament quarterfinals. She became the 27th player in program history to achieve the mark, and in only three seasons.

NATIONAL TEAM EXPERIENCE
• This past summer, senior Jayla Scaife was invited to the USA Basketball Pan-American Games trials in Colorado Springs, Colo. She spent the week training with some of the top collegiate players in the nation.

NEW TO THE STAFF
Head coach Shauna Green announced a new addition to the coaching staff for the 2019-20 season in video coordinator and recruiting assistant Cassie Sant.

Sant joins the Flyers after serving as a graphic specialist for the Cleveland Clinic in their Center for Design. She previously also worked at Premier Health in the marketing and communications department as well. During her time as a graphic designer, Sant was an assistant coach at Centerville High School in 2016-17 and her alma mater Fairmont High School in 2017-18.

A 2014 graduate from the University of Dayton with a degree in Visual Communication Design, Sant went on to play professionally for Virtus Basket La Spezia in Italy and Kilsyth Lady Cobras in Australia. There she averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the field. She led her team to the South Conference Championship and a spot in the SEABL Grand Finals. In her four-year career at Dayton, Sant appeared in 117 games with 59 starts in her final two seasons. She guided the Flyers to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites and reigning A-10 Champions VCU. The Flyers were tabbed to finish ahead of Fordham (2019 A-10 Tournament Champions) and Saint Louis.

PRESEASON HONORS
The Atlantic 10 released its preseason all-conference teams and recognized senior Jayla Scaife as First Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team. She was the lone Flyer honored preseason.

GREEN NAMED 2018 A-10 COACH OF THE YEAR
Head coach Shauna Green was named A-10 Coach of the Year in just her second year in charge. She guided the Flyers to historic seasons already and has a .746 winning percentage in 60 games.

FRESHMAN DUO TO MISS 2019-20 SEASON
Dayton freshmen Nadjy Tyler and Destiny Bohanon will redshirt for the 2019-20 season due to injuries in the preseason.
