The University will celebrate two important milestones for its famous home, the UD Arena – the completion of a three-year, $76.2 million Arena Transformation Project, and the building's 50th anniversary season. The first game at the Arena was played on Dec. 6, 1969 against Bowling Green.
The game will be carried by WHIO Radio and televised on Spectrum News 1. Live streaming audio, video and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.
THE TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton is wrapping up a $76.2 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena occurred in three phases – from 2017 to 2019 – and is being completed in time for UD Arena's 50th anniversary season.
The Arena is an iconic community resource with an economic impact of upwards of $10 million annually. In addition to Flyer men's and women's basketball games, high school tournament games and the NCAA First Four, it is used for competitions such as the Winter Guard International World Championships, entertainment events, large-scale educational seminars and as a staging area for community projects.
UD Arena has been the site of 125 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament games, 48 more than any other tournament host.
