TOLEDO– The University of Dayton women's basketball team went into a tough environment at Savage Arena Saturday and earned a 60-42 win over Toledo.
The Flyers (2-0) won their first road game while the Rockets (1-1) suffered their first loss in their home opener.

st – Dayton outscored Toledo 17-6 in the opening quarter and never looked back with the Rockets not getting within single digits again.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 17, Toledo 6
- Dayton jumped out to an early lead with redshirt senior Julia Chandler scoring the first four points.
- The Flyers started off on a 10-2 run, forcing a Toledo timeout with 4:52 on the clock. The Rockets did not have a field goal during that stretch.
- Toledo didn't score its first field goal until the 4:33 mark.
- The Rockets managed to close the game to within, but a Dayton run put the Flyers up double digits after the first.
- Dayton held Toledo to 15.4 percent shooting in the first and without a three-pointer.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 32, Toledo 17
- The Flyers carried that momentum over into the second with UD outscoring Toledo 7-1 to start the quarter.
- Redshirt junior Araion Bradshaw hit a three at the 7:30 mark, forcing another Toledo timeout. It put the Flyers ahead 28-7.
- Toledo suffered during a 4:16 scoring drought.
- Dayton was then the team that got a little cold, going scoreless for over four minutes while Toledo started to claw its way back within 15.
- The Flyers shot 38.2 percent in the first half and held the Rockets to 24.0 percent.
- Redshirt senior Shakeela Fowler led the way with seven points and four assists.
- Five Flyers scored five or more points in the first half.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 50, Toledo 29
- Redshirt junior Jenna Giacone scored the first four points for Dayton to start the second half.
- Toledo was able to match Dayton for points in the early stages of the third quarter.
- At the media timeout, the Flyers led 43-28.
- Fowler became the first player to reach double-digit scoring in the contest.
- The Rockets called a timeout with 1:04 on the clock after a Jayla Scaife three put the Flyers up by 19.
- Fowler drove and scored at the buzzer to put UD ahead 50-29.
4th Quarter: Dayton 60, Toledo 42
- The fourth started slow with neither team able to score in the first 2:30.
- Dayton wasn't able to add its lead until the 6:20 with a putback by redshirt junior Erin Whalen.
- By the midway point in the fourth, UD and Toledo had scored four and five points respectively in the quarter.
- The Rockets ran out of time and steam down the stretch with the Flyers remaining undefeated.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- 53 to 28 – Dayton outrebounded Toledo 53-28.
- 10 – Araion Bradshaw had 10 rebounds to go with six points.
