Box Score Highland Heights, Ky. -- The University of Dayton women's tennis team dropped its match to Northern Kentucky by a score of 5-2 on Saturday evening. Dayton is now 1-4 this season, while Northern Kentucky evens up their record to 3-3 on the year.
Kelly Pleiman and
Emily Zargham started the match strong for Dayton with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, but Northern Kentucky took both courts one and three on scores of 6-3 to take the doubles point.
The Flyers took two of the first three singles points to tie up the match at 2-2.
Anna Delaney was winning the opening set of her match, 3-0, when her opponent retired to give her the win at No. 6 singles. Pleiman also won her singles match at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Taylor Culbertson.
The Flyers have a busy weekend ahead with three matches on the schedule next week. Dayton opens with a pair of matches in Kalamazoo, Mich., first against host Western Michigan on Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. before taking on Valparaiso the following day at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A trip west around Lake Michigan will conclude the road trip with a match at Milwaukee beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
