Box Score MILWAUKEE -- The University of Dayton women's tennis team nearly picked up its second straight win of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, but fell to Milwaukee by a score of 4-3 on the road. Dayton's record is now 2-6 this season, while Milwaukee improves to 4-6.
For the second straight match, the Flyers jumped out to a strong start, as
Emily Zargham and
Kelly Pleiman won at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-2. Milwaukee's tandem of Alex Belle and Mayya Perova, who are 10-0 this season, took court one by a score of 6-3 to tie things up, but
Anna Delaney and
Kristina Benjamin came through with a clutch 6-3 win at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point for UD.
In singles play, Milwaukee was able to take a 3-1 lead after earning victories on courts two, three and six, but
Natalie Allen picked up a straight sets 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 over Nikki Milner to keep Dayton in the match. The Panthers were able to clinch the match with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles by Alex Belle over
Mattea Kilstofte, but
Mary Brascia was able to win her match at No. 5 by a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 margin over Agata Jurczak to cut the final deficit to just one.
The Flyers will make the short trip down I-75 to take on Xavier this Friday at 6 p.m. and will be back at home at the Five Seasons Family Sports Club this Sunday, Mar. 3 at 10 a.m. (ET). Look below for full results from today's match:
