DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis program has a pair of matches this weekend, beginning with a road trip down I-75 to take on Xavier on Friday at 6 p.m. (ET). The Flyers will be back at home on Sunday to take on Saint Joseph's.
The Flyers are coming off a weekend where they went 1-2, which included a win over Valparaiso and a 4-3 nail-biting loss to Milwaukee. Junior
Natalie Allen has won each of her last two matches and freshman
Mary Brascia picked up her first win in dual match play on Sunday against the Panthers. Dayton has found some doubles pairings that enjoyed success last weekend with
Anna Delaney and
Kristina Benjamin winning each of their last two matches and
Kelly Pleiman and
Emily Zargham also picking up a pair of wins at No. 2.
Xavier is 6-2 this season this season and has won each of its last four matches. Both losses for the Musketeers came at the hands of Big Ten opponents in Michigan State and Iowa. The Musketeers have winning record at each court in singles except for court No. 2. Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether are both on a four-match winning streak in singles play. Abelson plays at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while Ruether competes on courts five and six.
Saint Joseph's is 0-3 this season with losses to Navy, Bucknell and Fairfield, all by scores of 6-1.
