Box Score DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell to Youngstown State by a score of 7-0 on Sunday morning at the Five Seasons Sports Complex. Dayton is now 0-2 this season, while Youngstown State improves to 2-3 on the year.
The Flyers put up a strong fight in doubles play, as all three courts were decided by a 6-4 margin. After the Penguins had clinched the opening point with wins on courts one and three,
Kelly Pleiman and
Anna Delaney defeated Imaan Hassim and Claudia Barboza at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman
Mary Brascia gave Dayton its best chance to take a point in singles play on the day by forcing a third set at No. 5 before ultimately falling in the super break for a final line of 6-0, 4-6, 10-5. Senior
Mattea Kilstofte also kept both of her sets close at the No. 1 spot in the lineup in her 6-4, 7-5 loss to Hassim.
Dayton will be back in action at the Five Seasons Sports Complex next Friday, Feb. 8 against Saint Francis (Pa.) at 7 p.m. (ET). The Flyers will travel to Indianapolis the following day for a match against IUPUI at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 9. Look below for full results from Sunday's match:
