Box Score DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis program picked up its first win of the 2019 season on Friday evening with a 5-2 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.). The Flyers improve their record to 1-2, while the Red Flash drop to 1-6 this season.
Dayton entered the doubles point needing just to split the top two courts to win the opening point, as Saint Francis did not travel enough players to compete on court three.
Mattea Kilstofte and
Natalie Allen won by a score of 6-4 on the top court to give the doubles point to the Flyers.
In singles play, Dayton picked up one more point via forfeit on court six, leaving the Flyers needing just two more victories in singles play to take the match.
Mattea Kilstofte earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot in the lineup and
Kelly Pleiman also won her match in straight sets by a score of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4.
Anna Delaney also earned a win by defeating Romina Cutipa at No. 5 singles, 6-7, 6-2, 10-2.
The Flyers will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 9, at IUPUI in Indianapolis with the match beginning at 3 p.m (ET).
