ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton softball team claimed the doubleheader sweep of Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis Wednesday with 9-3 and 7-3 wins at SLU's BIlliken Sports Center.
Dayton improves to 14-16 on the season and 4-1 in conference action while Saint Louis moves to 8-20 overall and 3-2 in league play.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, Saint Louis 3
Winning Pitcher:
Jessica Gilliam (6-7) - allowed three earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts to zero walks (7.0 IP)
Losing Pitcher: Loveless (6-6) - six earned runs on 13 hits with four strikeouts to three walks (7.0 IP)
Notable: six Flyers recorded multiple hits in game one
GAME TWO
Dayton 7, Saint Louis 3
Winning Pitcher:
Jessica Weaver (6-5) - allowed two earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks (7.0 IP)
Losing Pitcher: Hacke (2-7) - five earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• 8 - as a team, the Flyers stole a total of eight bases on the day, led by senior
Kyle Davidson who went 3-for-3
• 7.0 - both of today's starting pitchers went the distance for Dayton. It was Gilliam's second complete game in her last three starts

Abby Ehrenborg tallied five RBI on the day, including her fifth home run of the season

Lisa Tassi each recorded four hits in the doubleheader. Tassi also knocked in four runs on the day

Dayton returns home this weekend to play host to Rhode Island in a three-game Atlantic 10 series at UD Softball Stadium. Saturday's doubleheader will get underway at 12 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. The Flyers will be promoting cancer awareness, including breast, colon and ovarian, during the series.
