Washington D.C. -- The University of Dayton men's tennis team picked up a 4-1 win over A-10 foe George Washington on Sunday morning. The win ends the weekend on a high note for the Flyers, who improve their record to 15-6 with the win, while George Washington drops to 5-12 on the year following the loss.
George Washington took the doubles point with a pair of 6-3 wins at courts number one and two, but Dayton flexed its strength in singles play with four consecutive wins to clinch the match.
Jordan Benjamin was the first to take his match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Zicheng Zeng at the top spot in the lineup, then
Spencer Richey put the Flyers in front for the first time of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles. Sophomore
Parker Banning won 6-4, 7-6 (4) in straight sets to put Dayton up 3-1 and
Lorenzo Rollhauser clinched the match for the Flyers at No. 6 with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory.
A big contest at No. 38 Kentucky awaits Dayton for the regular season finale in Lexington, Ky. for a final tune up in Lexington, Ky. before the Atlantic 10 Championships in Orlando, Fla. from Apr. 25-28.
