PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Dayton baseball team opened up its series at La Salle with a 7-6 win on Friday afternoon. The win improves Dayton's record to 26-21-1 (13-6 A-10) and La Salle drops to 24-24 (3-13 A-10). 
Hunter Wolfe threw seven innings and struck out eight batters en route to his eighth win of the season on the mound, which leads the Atlantic 10 Conference.
KEY MOMENT
Dayton took a 6-3 lead into the ninth and 
Connor Wilson and 
Takahiro Yamada opened the inning with a pair of singles to put runners at the corners. 
Benjamin Blackwell excecuted a safety squeeze to perfection by dropping a bunt down the third base line to score Wilson. That insurance run proved to be vital, as La Salle scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Connor Echols led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to left to open up the scoring.

Ben Faso hit a lead-off double, then Kevin McGowan tripled to bring home La Salle's first run of the day. McGowan scored on a sacrifice fly.

A lead-off walk came back to bite Dayton, as a Tatum Levins double drove in Tommy Toal from first.

- Tyler Jones earned his team-leading fourth save of the year, which is also tied for 10th all-time in Dayton history for saves in a single season.
- Connor Echols hit two home runs and had a team-high four RBIs.
- Echols became the first player with two homers in a game since Tate Hagan did it against Georgetown on Feb. 26, 2017.
- Connor Wilson also had two hits.
- Alex Brickman left the yard with his fifth home run of the season.
- Michael Cleary was plunked by his NCAA-leading 23rd hit by pitch this season.
