#UDBASE Holds Off Late Rally From La Salle

Dayton And La Salle Will Play A Doubleheader Tomorrow Beginning At 10 A.M.

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Dayton baseball team opened up its series at La Salle with a 7-6 win on Friday afternoon. The win improves Dayton's record to 26-21-1 (13-6 A-10) and La Salle drops to 24-24 (3-13 A-10). Hunter Wolfe threw seven innings and struck out eight batters en route to his eighth win of the season on the mound, which leads the Atlantic 10 Conference.

KEY MOMENT
Dayton took a 6-3 lead into the ninth and Connor Wilson and Takahiro Yamada opened the inning with a pair of singles to put runners at the corners. Benjamin Blackwell excecuted a safety squeeze to perfection by dropping a bunt down the third base line to score Wilson. That insurance run proved to be vital, as La Salle scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Connor Echols led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to left to open up the scoring.

Dayton homered for the third straight inning, as Alex Brickman hit a two-run home run to bring around Eddie Pursinger, who doubled to open the inning.

Ben Faso hit a lead-off double, then Kevin McGowan tripled to bring home La Salle's first run of the day. McGowan scored on a sacrifice fly.
