Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The University of Dayton men's tennis team opened the 2020 dual match season with a 7-0 loss on the road at Louisville today at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

UofL started the match by taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Tin Chen and Matthew Fung gave the Cards an early edge with their 6-3 win over Dayton's Will Harper and Connor Bruce in third doubles. On court two, Steven Karl and Georgi Mavrodiev jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but Alex Wesbrooks and Daniel Fainblum rallied to win 6-4 to clinch the first point of the match. In No. 1 doubles, UD's Joe DeMarco and Matt DeMarco were up 6-5 on Sergio Hernandez and Fabien Salle.

In singles action, Fabien Salle gave Louisville a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Joe DeMarco at No. 3. UD's Oliver Dunne dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Randy Wilson at the six-spot. The match was decided on court two where Louisville's Sergio Hernandez beat Dayton's Steven Karl 6-0, 6-4.

On court one, Bruce fell 6-1 in the first set, but won 6-1 in the second to force a third set. Chen won the third set 6-2.

Dayton (0-1) plays at No. 6 Ohio State this Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 6 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings.
