DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads back out on the road to take on George Washington Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in Atlantic 10 action.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is currently riding a seven-game winning streak and sits at 12-7 on the season. The Flyers are tied atop the A-10 standings with a 5-0 conference mark. UD is 4-2 in away games this season.
Head coach
Shauna Green is in her fourth season in charge of the Flyers and already has two tournament and one regular season conference titles, as well as being the former A-10 Coach of the Year in 2018. She recently earned her 100th career victory.
As a team, the Flyers are scoring 66.7 points per game and holding opponents to 60.4 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 38.3 percent overall, 34.0 percent from three, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers have a +2.5 rebounding margin and +2.6 turnover margin.

Erin Whalen's 13.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while senior
Jayla Scaife is chipping in 11.4 points and 4.7 rebounds each outing.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington hosts Dayton with a 7-10 record on the season and a 1-3 A-10 mark. The Colonials are on a two-game losing streak and have lost eight of their last nine. GW is 3-4 at home this year as well.
Head coach Jennifer Rizzotti is in her fourth season in charge and has served as an assistant coach on the U.S. Women's National team.
This season, George Washington is averaging 56.9 points each outing and giving up 62.8 points to opposing squads. The Colonials are shooting 39.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from behind the arc, and 62.6 percent from the charity stripe. GW faces a -0.8 rebounding margin and a -1.5 turnover margin.
Leading the Colonials is Alexandra Maund with 10.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game with Sydney Zambrotta and Tori Hyduke contributing 10.2 points each contest as well.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton held on for its seventh straight win with a 48-47 victory over Saint Louis at home Sunday. A late surge by the Billikens was not enough as
Erin Whalen hit the game-winning free throw with 1.1 seconds left.
George Washington suffered a 62-55 loss at Davidson Saturday after scoring just 15 points in the first half. Alexandra Maund led the Colonials with 17 points and seven rebounds while going 7-for-13.
THE SERIES
Dayton and George Washington have played 45 times previously with the Flyers winning 12 times and the Colonials winning 33 times. The series split last year, but UD won the last meeting on Feb. 17 at UD Arena, 63-53.

The Flyers rank 33rd in the country in rebounds and 58th in three point field goals made. Individually,

STARTING THE NEW YEAR OFF RIGHT
In Coach Green's four year tenure at UD, the Flyers are 25-2 in the month of January including perfect in 2016-17, 2017-18, and so far in 2019-20.

Dayton defeated La Salle on Jan. 4, 2020 in the A-10 opener 98-58, the first 40-point win for the Flyers since defeating La Salle on Feb. 22, 2015, 91-49, at home. Dayton scored 94+ points in two of three straight games.

Dayton created one of the hardest non-conference schedules in program history, taking on three nationally ranked teams in the first seven games, and facing numerous 2019 NCAA Tournament participants. THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 587 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.
PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites and reigning A-10 Champions VCU. The Flyers were tabbed to finish ahead of Fordham (2019 A-10 Tournament Champions) and Saint Louis.
