DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball program and head coach Shauna Green have announced the hiring of Maya Solomon as the new Director of Basketball Operations.

"I am super excited to have Maya join our staff," stated Coach Green. "Her energy, work ethic, and passion for Dayton will only make us better."

Solomon comes to UD after serving the past two years as graduate assistant for the University of North Carolina-Greensboro women's basketball team. There, she received her Master's in Applied Arts & Sciences in May 2020. While at UNC-Greensboro, Solomon was part of the program's first regular season conference title since 2002, going 21-8.

Prior to her time in North Carolina, Solomon attended Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo., graduating in 2018 in Sports Business Management. She was a four-year varsity letter winner on the women's basketball team and received the team's Senior Award in 2018 while also serving as a captain on the team.

She does have a previous connection with Dayton however as Maya's father, Anthony, currently serves as the Associate Head Coach on the men's basketball staff at UD.

"To learn and grow within the winning culture that Shauna has established is invaluable. Dayton is a special place that I have always admired because of its tradition and family atmosphere. I am very excited to be a part of the Flyer family!"

The Flyers are coming off a 2019-20 season in which they won both the regular season and tournament titles in the Atlantic 10. Dayton finished 25-8 on the season, including 15-1 in A-10 play, and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament, which was eventually canceled.
