Box Score MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team took down Northern Kentucky 6-1 at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg on Saturday night.
"Another tough match today," head coach
Ryan Meyer said. "Our doubles wasn't up to our standard tonight but we showed a lot of toughness in singles. For us to win five out of five three setters says a lot about our mental toughness."
As Meyer hinted, the Flyers opened the evening dropping the doubles point losing both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
This would be the only point the Flyers would allow the Norse to win. Dayton won all six singles matches, with five of them going to a decisive third set.
Will Harper took the lone two-set victory over Felipe Hidalgo.
Matt DeMarco finished next with a win in No. 3 singles.
Connor Bruce continued his impressive season with another win in the No. 1 singles flight.
Joe DeMarco clinched the match for the Flyers in the No. 5 flight roaring back after dropping the first set with two consecutive set wins to take the point and the match for Dayton.
Steven Karl and
Georgi Mavrodiev finished the evening for Dayton with wins in No. 2 and No. 4 singles.
