Men's Tennis Set For Three Matches In Three Days

Flyers Will Take On Bellarmine, Belmont, And Austin Peay This Weekend

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will hit the road for three matches in three days beginning Friday at 2 p.m. when the Flyers travel to Bellarmine.

The Flyers will continue to Nashville for a Saturday match against Belmont scheduled for 4 p.m. EST before finishing the weekend at Austin Peay at noon EST.

Dayton is coming off a weekend that saw a split in two home matches against George Washington and Northern Kentucky.

George Washington took down the Flyers 4-3 on Friday before Dayton took down Northern Kentucky 6-1 on Saturday, taking all six of the singles points in the process.

Connor Bruce was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his efforts on the weekend, going 3-1 in four matches, taking both against George Washington. It marks the second consecutive, third overall time Bruce has earned this honor.

Bellarmine, a Division II school in Louisville, sits at 4-1 on the season after falling to the University of Alabama in Huntsville last Saturday. The Knights are a combined 9-1 in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles on the year, with Emil Bjoerlykke Berglund leading the way with a 5-0 overall record.

Belmont is 6-3 this year, owning a three-match winning streak. The Bruins were off last weekend, but defeated Presbyterian and Wofford the weekend before on the road. Felix Rauch is planted as the No. 1 singles competitor, having success with a 6-3 record of his own in the flight.

Dayton will be the third of three schools Austin Peay will take on over the weekend with Martin Methodist and IUPUI each playing the Governors. The program opens the stretch 3-6. Jacob Lorino owns a four-match winning streak in singles play with a 4-3 overall record in the No. 5 singles flight this season.
